OUR STORY

SOS (Save Our Skin) Sunsuits was founded in 2000 by Tracy Kennedy, an Australian mother of 4, frustrated by the poor range and quality of sunsuits available in the climate with the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. The business was specifically developed for the purpose of direct selling to the public, and fundraising for child care centres, preschools, playgroups etc. SOS has recently expanded into the US market, with more international growth anticipated in the near future. This truly is a great Australian success story.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

SOS Sunsuits are made in Queensland, Australia using Du Pont Lycra. The SPF (sun protection factor) of the Lycra varies with colour – generally the darker the colour, the higher the SPF. Therefore the lowest SPF colour is white, which carries an SPF of 50+ - still 20 points higher than the 30+ sunscreen! The Lycra we use is called Carvico which is manufactured in Italy using the latest technology which makes the Lycra 4½ times more chlorine resistant than ever before. , This means that children should grow out of their sunsuits before they wear them out! However, sunshine, chlorine, salt and sand are still the most damaging factors for Lycra. Rinsing in clean fresh water and drying out of the sun will ensure a longer life. The washing instructions should be followed carefully.

Protecting our children, and ourselves, from the sun should be of the highest priority when venturing outdoors. A hat, good quality sunscreen, and an SOS Sunsuit or shirt will provide you and your children with all the protection necessary to keep safe from the sun’s harmful rays. It is estimated that 1 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with sun damage throughout their lives.

We are very proud of our fabulous range of bright colours, and cost effective prices which allow all families the opportunity to be well protected.

SOSSunsuitsFUNDRAISING

A sunsuit is an item that every child needs at least one of – most kids need 2 or 3! Offering your members a product that they need to purchase anyway (but at a higher quality and lower price) means that most people are more than happy to know they are contributing to your fundraising.

SOS Sunsuits allows your organization to raise maximum funds whilst inviting your members to purchase a necessity for their child, rather than a spontaneous purchase that would otherwise not have been made. You know the ones!.

HOW IT WORKS

Each of your members receives one of the our fabulous brochures containing our range of bright, colourful and very protective sunsuits, and an order form with your organization nominated as the fundraising host.

Your organization then receives a nominated amount for every sunsuit or sunshirt that is ordered.

That is all that is required by your organization. Customers then place their orders directly with us. Their orders are processed and delivered with an approximate 2 week turnaround. Placing a closing date for orders encourages members to make their orders early rather than placing the brochure in a pile of other papers with the intention of ‘getting back to that later’. Alternatively, your organization might like to encourage its members to collect orders from family and friends, with a prize for the largest order as an incentive.

Payments for sales are paid on a monthly basis, so the fundraising campaign can be ongoing.
